Split Rock Resort has shut its Town Center guest rooms, its indoor waterpark and its restaurants for an overhaul of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. The bowling lanes and arcade are still open. That changes how an evening there works for anyone who lives around the lake. You can still bowl a few games at Split Rock, but you'll eat somewhere else. And because the lanes and the nearby kitchens keep different hours, the right order changes through the week.
No reopening date has been announced. For now, the resort covers half of a night out, and the other half is up to you.
What Closed in September
28/22 News reported on September 23, 2026 that Split Rock had temporarily closed its hotel and several other operations. The resort called it "an exciting new chapter." The Town Center, including its guest rooms and waterpark, closed while the building systems are modernized. Separately, the resort's own restaurant page says its dining centers are "temporarily closed for renovations."
Here's how the property splits right now:
| Closed for renovation | Still operating, per the resort |
|---|---|
| Town Center guest rooms | Willowbrook accommodations |
| H2Ooooh! indoor waterpark | Indoor pool and fitness center |
| Resort dining centers | Indoor and outdoor sports complexes |
| Arcade and Game Zone | |
| Bowling | |
| Mini golf and beach |
The waterpark page states it directly: "The Waterpark will remain closed until further notice." That puts Hurricane Cove's wave pool, the Amazon Blast slide and the Komodo Dragon surf ride out of service for now. The resort is sending all new reservations to Willowbrook during the work.
The Half That Stayed Open
For a resident, the most useful part of what's left is the bowling center. Split Rock's activities page says the lanes, which run Brunswick machines, are "open to the public all week long." Kids 12 and under pay $6 and everyone older pays $8, with shoes included. For comparison, the resort's waterpark page currently lists a discounted waterpark ticket at $35 for guests over 42 inches. On the posted prices, a game of bowling for an adult costs less than a quarter of the waterpark ticket that isn't available anyway.
The arcade keeps the same hours as the lanes. It has more than 72 games, from virtual reality to classic machines, plus prize redemption. Both are posted at:
- Monday through Thursday: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Friday through Sunday: 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The 18-hole outdoor mini golf course is also still running, and you pick up the clubs and balls inside the Arcade Zone. The resort notes that it's open depending on the weather. As November comes on, plan on the lanes and arcade, and treat the course as a bonus if the weather cooperates.
The resort's pages don't carry dates, so call ahead or check the site before you go.
Dinner Moves Off the Property
With the resort's dining centers closed, dinner has to happen somewhere else. Four nearby places post hours on their own sites.
Boulder View Tavern is on Big Boulder Lake, with a patio, an outdoor bar, beer and cocktails. It's open Tuesday through Thursday from 4 to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from noon to 10 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 9 p.m. It's closed Mondays.
Louie's Prime at 244 Lake Harmony Road has a cocktail bar and takes dine-in guests by reservation. Its site shows an "Open today" hours window but no full weekly schedule, so check before you book.
Woody's Country House is at 4775 Route 115 in Blakeslee, a few minutes from the lake, and has a bar. It's open Tuesday through Thursday from 3 to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. It's closed Mondays.
Piggy's Restaurant at 16 N. Lake Drive serves the early part of the day, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. It closes on Thanksgiving and Christmas. That makes Piggy's the natural pairing for the 9 a.m. weekend opening at the lanes.
The Day of the Week Sets the Order
From Tuesday through Thursday, the bowling center closes before Boulder View Tavern does. On weekends, it stays open after every posted dinner kitchen has closed.
| Day | Split Rock lanes and arcade | Latest posted dinner close nearby | Order that fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. | Boulder View and Woody's closed | Bowl, then check Louie's Prime |
| Tuesday to Thursday | 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. | Boulder View at 10 p.m. | Bowl first, eat after |
| Friday and Saturday | 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. | Boulder View at 10 p.m. | Eat first, bowl after |
| Sunday | 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. | Boulder View and Woody's at 9 p.m. | Eat first, bowl after |
From Tuesday through Thursday, the lanes close at 9 p.m. and Boulder View keeps serving until 10, so you can bowl after work and still sit down to eat. From Friday through Sunday it flips. Boulder View closes at 10 on Friday and Saturday and at 9 on Sunday, and Woody's closes at 9 all three nights. The lanes and arcade stay open until 11, so dinner goes first and the games fill the end of the night.
Sunday is the tightest. Both posted dinner spots close at 9 p.m., which leaves two hours of open lanes for anyone who ate early.
Monday Is the Hard Night
Monday breaks the pattern. Split Rock's lanes and arcade are open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., but Boulder View Tavern and Woody's Country House both list Monday as a closed day. Piggy's is open, but only until 3 p.m. Louie's Prime is the one to check on a Monday evening, since its site posts only that day's hours and it seats diners by reservation. Someone hosting relatives over a long weekend can pencil in a Monday lunch at Piggy's and an afternoon at the lanes, and save the full evening out for later in the week.
The Mountains Haven't Posted a Date Yet
Nobody on the mountain has announced the next piece of a Lake Harmony winter either. On August 18, 2026, Vail Resorts released planned 2026–27 opening dates for a group of its resorts. The release did not list Jack Frost or Big Boulder. It said more dates would follow in the coming months and that all dates depend on weather and conditions. The Jack Frost Big Boulder hours page still shows the 2025–2026 winter season, with both mountains and their dining, rentals and tubing marked closed.
Passes are on sale, though. The JFBB pass page lists:
- Epic Day Pass, good for 1 to 7 days, in three tiers covering 22 resorts, 32 resorts or all resorts.
- Northeast Value Pass, which includes Jack Frost Big Boulder and 20 other resorts.
- Five Epic Friend Tickets for eligible pass holders, giving friends up to 50% off lift access. Epic Day Pass holders don't get them.
For the 2026–27 season, Vail is also offering 20% off the Epic Pass and Epic Local Pass for young adults ages 13 to 30. Until the two mountains post an opening day, the indoor options around the lake are Split Rock's lanes and arcade, with dinner at one of the places above, timed to the day of the week.
Split Rock's renovation, the ski opening date and whatever reopens next all shape what a winter at Lake Harmony looks like, and we keep track of them for the people who live and own here.
